The Journey: For Leaders who want to be free in their freedom work

About The Journey

Our Path

The LEADFREE Journey is a series of Socratic seminar style discussions that constructs a powerful narrative using the canon of critical race theorists like Okun and Kendi, as well as theories from the American Psychiatric Association and Bobbie Harro’s cycles of socialization and liberation.  Participants become starkly aware of the mechanisms in which they are tangled. From there, they are guided back to the voices of our contemporaries and ancestors--case studies from fellow leaders who are free, studying the Siksika Nation Tipi of Needs and Elaine Maree Brown’s conceptualization of fractals alongside Dr. Monique Black’s theory and practice of the joy factor.  With these tools, participants become present to their own innate wisdom and freedom.

Cultivate, Root Down, Grow Up

While the LeadFree journey is not really linear, it is broken down into 3 major benchmarks: participants first cultivate their understanding of white supremacy in their work and life, then root down into their courage and honesty to interrogate their tethers to oppression, and finally they grow up to imagine and redefine their freedom and free leadership .  The curriculum is uniquely designed to ensure that participants come to these “a-ha” moments through inquiry: studying, discussion, reflection, sharing and reflecting again.

The Journey is Distinct

The LeadFree Journey helps you focus on how to experience and create freedom IN your work–not outside of it.  This is not about healing and restoration during rest – which is absolutely critical and needed! – it’s about creating the mindset, conditions, and reality to lessen the need for healing and restoration during rest, because you’re getting it at and in your work.  Secondarily, the LeadFree Journey is distinct because of you.  You are going to engage, explore and invest in this Journey in ways we often don’t (for a variety of reasons).  The stage will be set and you’re going to go all-in.
